About Us

Indie Spotlight: Film & Conversation is a bi-monthly event series dedicated to showcasing the work of independent filmmakers. Each event features thoughtfully curated screenings followed by open conversations that connect filmmakers with audiences in meaningful ways.
Our mission is simple: to give independent filmmakers the visibility they deserve and to inspire communities through authentic, diverse, and innovative storytelling.
At our core, we believe in the power of storytelling, the importance of community, and the need for spaces where creative voices can be heard, supported, and celebrated.

Our Story
Indie Spotlight: Film & Conversation was founded by Jess Hurth in Southaven, Mississippi, as a space for independent filmmakers to share their work with engaged, local audiences. What started as a passion project quickly became a welcoming community gathering where films aren’t just watched — they’re discussed, celebrated, and appreciated.
Through each event, Indie Spotlight continues to shine a light on the creativity, dedication, and artistry of filmmakers whose voices might otherwise go unheard.
